The Christian Label

Who invented the word Christian? Young people struggle with the word. This is especially true among young Christians who have grown up in a country where Christianity is the dominant religion. Recent statistics indicate that more and more people (close to 20%) choose “no religion” when asked which one they identify with. These people are called “nones” by social scientists and are largely comprised of young people who were raised in church.

How about you – do you self identify as a Christian when asked? Do you feel uncomfortable using this identifier? Why?

What other terms do you use to identify your religious loyalties?
