Are Christians too involved in Politics?

Psychologist Jonathan Haidt suggests that there are five moral values that form the basis of our political choices, regardless of whether we’re left, right or center. Conservatives are more concerned about security and liberals are more concerned with freedom. In I Corinthians 5:17 the Apostle Paul seems to suggest that Christians have a different orientation “Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons!” (The Message). Does this “newness” translate into politics? Apparently not, at least according to the young Christians and Non Christians we interviewed. These young insider/outsiders offer their honest feelings? How about you?

Is it safe for you to disagree about politics in your church? What stops Christians from sharing their differences on this topic?

Do you think Christians have become over involved in politics? How did this happen?
